Gold Eagle Casino Brings In Less Than Expected

For the first time in its three-year history, the Battlefords Agency Tribal Chiefs Community Development Corporation received less money than expected from the Gold Eagle Casino.
As a result, 18 applicants to the BATC CDC were declined and others had their funding cut.
That’s because earlier, First Nations and Metis Relations sent money to the CDC based on an estimate of what Gold Eagle Casino profits would be.
When that profit was lower, FNMR asked for the money back.
FNMR Deputy Minister Ron Crowe says the dip in revenues was a surprise, but the money has to be paid back.
The BATC CDC has until March 31 next year to pay back the money.
