A coroner’s inquest into the fatal shooting of a Saskatchewan man by a Mountie has been adjourned.

The inquiry into the September 2008 death of Harry Haineault on the Clearwater River Dene Nation just began on Monday in Meadow Lake, Sask.

Saskatchewan Justice spokeswoman Desirae Bernreuther says new information has come to light and the inquiry will be rescheduled.

She says the adjournment is necessary to allow all the parties involved a chance to review the new information.

On Monday, RCMP Const. Jamie Grant testified that he caught Haineault as he was fleeing from a home where the officer and another Mountie were trying to serve an arrest warrant.

Grant said Haineault had him in a headlock and was choking him.
