The File Hills Qu’Appelle Tribal Council Appeals Committee has ruled not to overturn the results of an election for tribal vice-chair that was held last month.
The appeals committee says there was no issue that pertained to the election after it was called.
Dwayne Stonechild is the lawyer representing five chiefs who filed the appeal, and he says they are disappointed but plan to appeal the committee’s decision.
Chiefs from five FHQTC First Nations filed the appeal on the grounds that due process was not followed when changes to the election act were made six days prior.
