Three missing boaters from Wollaston Lake have been located safe and sound.

Just after 12:00 p.m. today, Canadian Rangers located the trio on an island in the northern section of Wollaston Lake.

A 60-year-old elder had been taking two young relatives out to check some fish lines on Tuesday.

A search was ordered when they didn’t return by Wednesday night.

Sgt. Paul Dawson of the RCMP says good teamwork involving the Mounties, Wollaston Lake Canadian Rangers and local volunteers helped locate them.

Dawson says 11 Canadian Rangers were actively involved in the search, with the help of six boats.

The Rangers are volunteers in remote northern communities that assist Canadian Forces personnel in support of domestic operations.
