A man accused of killing another man on the Mistawasis reserve a decade ago was back in court today.

Curtis Nataucappo told a judge in Prince Albert Provincial Court today that he doesn’t want to be represented by Legal Aid.

The 31-year-old man was arrested this summer and charged with the second-degree murder of Alexander Sanderson.

Sanderson’s body was found on a grid road on April 18th, 2001, but no arrests were made.

However, the RCMP’s cold case unit eventually re-started the investigation, and charges were laid.

The judge told Nataucappo a hearing will have to be held before another lawyer can be brought in to take over the case.
