Native Woman Begins Role As Ambassador To Vietnam

A 48-year-old woman from the Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation is settling in to her new job as Canada’s Ambassador to Vietnam.
Deborah Chatsis is the first, First Nations woman to be appointed as an ambassador by the federal government.
Chatsis says living in Hanoi is a big change, but she looks forward to the challenges of her new position.
She says she is looking forward to discussing her First Nations background, a topic which has received attention in the Vietnamese news media.
Her term will last three years.
