New North Looking to Industry for Infrastructure

New North is making plans to engage industry for help with infrastructure demands.

Yesterday at their annual general meeting the municipal group heard from consultant Doug Anguish.

He and his partner recently canvassed northern communities to find out their regional infrastructure needs.

After talking to officials in west, central, east and Athabasca regions they determined there was a medium-term infrastructure need of $177 million.

One hundred million of that lies in the form of natural gas lines required on the west and east side.

Anguish told delegates they don’t intend to let government off the hook from its responsibilities.

But at the same time they want to see how the Uranium industry can help remedy the situation.

Anguish says one meeting has already taken place and another one is set for November 22nd.
