New Vice-Chairperson for FHQTC

A new vice chairperson has been elected to the File Hills Qu’appelle Tribal Council following last Friday’s election that saw a divided membership.

Ira Lavallee from the Piapot First Nation defeated incumbent Myke Agecoutay in a close vote of 40 to 35.

Members were divided over last minute changes to the election act that gave votes to duly-elected council members instead of delegates chosen by the chiefs

as had been the case in the past.
