Suspect In La Ronge Hit And Run Pleads Not Guilty

A 19-year-old northern Saskatchewan woman charged after the death of a pedestrian last month has entered a plea of not guilty to three charges.
Sheena Billette was arrested after a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle between La Ronge and Air Ronge on October 9th.
The victim, 21-year-old Carl Lance Smith from Pinehouse, died at the scene.
Billette has elected trial by Court of Queen’s Bench judge and jury.
She is charged with impaired driving causing death, operation of a motor vehicle with a blood alchol level over .08, and leaving the scene of an accident.
A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for March 10th in La Ronge.
