Testimony continued today at the forgery trial of a Metis man.
Brian Amyotte is facing four charges relating the the infamous 2004 Metis Nation – Saskatchewan election.
Today, a woman who used to work with Amyotte in North Battleford testifed that Amyotte, along with Ralph Kennedy, had told her to redo the electoral lists in advance of the May 26th, 2004 election.
Cheryl Gervais says that meant adding names that were made up, which she says they provided.
Gervais says she was basically forced to work that election because when she said she didn’t want to, she says Kennedy and Amyotte asked her if her kids liked to eat, which she took to mean she could lose her job if she didn’t.
Gervais was poll clerk at the Marshall station and says about 27 people actually voted out of the 85 names listed.
She says Amyotte and Kennedy told her to not use the official seal when sealing the ballot box but to use a bread clip instead.
At the end of her testimony, Gervais, who herself pled guilty to forgery, said “we’re all guilty, anyone who was there” and said that included Amyotte.
