Young Karate Student Honoured By PAGC Chiefs

Some special recognition was paid to a young member of the Montreal Lake Cree Nation yesterday at the Prince Albert Grand Council annual assembly.

Grant Bird was recognized for winning a gold medal at the World Martial Arts Championships.

The teenager put on a brief demonstration for delegates in attendance and then thanked his mother for taking him to karate class and all the tournaments he attends.

Bird, who has attained a blue belt in karate, says he plans to compete in Switzerland in the near future.
