Canadians are being encouraged to help end violence against women.
This was in a statement yesterday by the Federal Status of Women marking the International Day for the Elimination of violence against women.
The Government of Canada recently introduced tougher legislation and penalties for those who commit violent crimes against women and children as well as launching a $10 million strategy to help address the disturbing number of missing and murdered Aboriginal women.
Sixteen Days of Activism is currently underway worldwide.
