FSIN Welcomes Child Welfare Review

The FSIN welcomes the Saskatchewan Child Welfare Review Panel’s report as it says it reinforces what its own reports have been saying for years.
Now the FSIN hopes the province will honour the report’s 12 recommendations.
Ray Shingoose is with the Yorkton Tribal Council’s Child & Family Services.
He says prevention needs to be the key focus by looking at why children end up in foster care: child poverty, substance abuse, substandard housing and witnessing family violence.
The FSIN plans to meet with Social Services Minister June Draude in the new year.
