The percentage of Aboriginal people with a college certificate or diploma is now on par with the rest of the country.
That is one of the findings contained in a report by the Association of Canadian Community Colleges.
The study also shows Aboriginal people prefer attending colleges or technical institutes over university.
Of the Aboriginal people in post-secondary education, 42% attend community colleges, 20% attend technical institutes and only 16% are enrolled in university.
Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies President and CEO Randell Morris says support programs are a big part of the success for Aboriginal students.
Student enrollment at SIIT has doubled since the last report in 2005.
