The struggle against whooping cough continues in Stanley Mission following the death of a five-week-old boy to the illness last week.

The director of the local health clinic says 22 people in the community have the ailment.

Solomon Charles says everyone is being treated, and 95 per cent of the residents have been immunized.

Charles adds they are asking anyone who is coughing, and who comes into contact with newborn children, to come to the clinic to get their shot.

He notes infants can’t get their immunization until they are at least six weeks of age, leaving them quite vulnerable.
