Wisahkecahk Skits Used To Teach Life Lessons

Two Aboriginal men are using drama to teach Aboriginal language and culture.

Last week, Paul Daigneault and Kurtis McAdam did their first performance of the stories of Wisahkecahk at the First Nations Language Keepers conference in Saskatoon.

The two perform skits that involve the audience by getting them to act and say words in Cree.

Daigneault says they hope to travel to schools to tell the stories of Wisahkecahk.

He says there are many life lessons to be learned from Wisahkecahk, adding “he was sort of our Jesus, if you will”.

The two want to give back to their community, so they aren’t charging for performances.

They ask schools who would like them to visit to cover their expenses and provide a small honourarium, if possible.
