A guilty plea has been entered by a northern Saskatchewan woman in the stabbing death of a man in Deschambault Lake.

It was back in March of last year that a 38-year-old man was found badly wounded by an off-duty officer in the northern community.

The man was rushed to hospital, but did not survive.

Yolanda Custer, who was 21 at the time of the incident, was charged soon after with second-degree murder.

However, in court yesterday, she pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter.

Custer was sentenced to four years in prison — but the judge credited her for time already served, meaning she will actually spend 16 months behind bars.
