The minister of Aboriginal Affairs is commenting on his new title.
In a release, minister John Duncan says he believes the decision to change the name of his department from “Indian Affairs” to “Aboriginal Affairs” will make it more inclusive.
He goes on to say the change will have no impact on his responsibilities and the government remains committed to making progress on issues.
Some First Nations have been critical of the move saying it will lead to a watered-down approach on their issues.
Duncan says it won’t have an impact.
