The National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations says a recent Ontario court decision could have implications across the country.
Yesterday the treaty rights of the citizens of Grassy Narrows First Nation were upheld: a case that began more than a decade ago when there were clear-cut logging attempts in their territory.
National Chief Shawn Atleo says the decision allows Indigenous people to determine what development will look like and when to participate.
Atleo says there are more than 170 First Nations that have entered into mining agreements, and he says more and more First Nations are becoming involved in green energy projects.
