The Assembly of First Nations has declared June the month of “First Nations Advocacy, Awareness and Action”.
National Chief Shawn Atleo says the goal is to foster a better understanding between First Nations and other Canadians.
The AFN will host a number of events in Ottawa including an arts festival, roundtable discussions and a parliamentary reception.
There are also plans to mark the three-year anniversary of the federal apology for residential schools.
