The Assembly of First Nations is looking into whether or not industrial pollutants are starting to affect traditional food supplies.

The study is being led by researcher Don Sharpe.

Over the next few years he will examine fish, caribou, berries and other traditional fare for various contaminants.

Sharpe says he will analyze hair samples, trace metals in drinking water and also look at pharmaceutical levels in surface water.

He adds the study will start off in Ontario before eventually branching off to other provinces.
