A provincial youth representative for the Assembly of First Nations says she resigned from her position on the council because she didn’t feel others shared her desire for transparency and accountability.
Jarita Greyeyes was voted in last year to represent the First Nations youth in Saskatchewan, which also put her on the AFN youth council.
At its last meeting, she put forth a resolution calling for members to disclose their per diems and travel expenses, as well as provide a narrative report and meetings attended.
She says even though seven supported her motion, she felt she had to resign because nine abstained.
Greyeyes says she will continue to work for youth in Saskatchewan.
She and her fellow provincial youth rep, Evan Chamakese, brought forth a resolution today at the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations legislative assembly, calling for meaningful youth participation within the FSIN.
