At a fundraising gala last night, Claudette Alexson said that the people in Aboriginal Family Services helped her overcome her crisis.
Aboriginal Family Services celebrated 15 years of providing support to families, many with children in foster care.
A few years ago, Alexson was an addict who had lost her job, her son to foster care, and her hope.
She knew she couldn’t do it alone and needed support and advocacy, which she says she found at AFS.
Metis songstress Andrea Menard gave a heartfelt performance during the evening’s program.
The funds from the silent auction will go to their Aboriginal headstart program and Hope House ,a visiting centre for parents with children in foster care.
