The Athabasca Health Authority is getting some new technology.
Over the next 15 months, hospitals within the Far North will get the ability to transmit x-ray images to radiologists in Saskatoon and Prince Albert for analysis.
The move is intended to reduce the amount of time patients in Athabasca are forced to wait for their images to be looked at.
Deb Jordan is the executive director of acute care services with the ministry of health.
She says currently – x-ray images are either mailed down south or an expert has to travel to the community.
She adds the new system is being phased in across the entire province.
