B.C. Uranium Company Secures Leases

A company from B.C. recently secured three mineral leases from the provincial government.

Hathor Uranium discovered its “Roughrider” uranium deposit in 2008.

The stake is located near Points North and covers more than five hundred hectares.

Hathor says this is the first time since the mid-eighties the government has granted leases for a uranium project in the Athabasca Basin.

It describes the development as both significant and unique.

A spokesman for the government says Hathor is correct that this is the first time a new lease has been granted since then.

However, Bob Ellis says leases are being renewed all the time and it’s something that’s fairly routine.

Ellis says it is good news for the industry, though, as it shows Saskatchewan’s mining sector continues to grow and develop.
