Buffalo River Dene Nation Goes to the Polls

Members of the Buffalo River Dene Nation are choosing between two candidates for chief today.

Incumbent Debbie Billette is being challenged by John Montgrand in today’s election.

Montgrand unsuccessfully ran for chief in the last election in 2009, and in a byelection in 2008 — the year Billette first took over.

All five incumbent band councillors are seeking re-election.

They are among 15 people running for council in Dillon.

The winning candidates will serve a two-year term in office.
