Contractors Take Issue With Mould At Northern Mine

Around 80 contractors at the Key Lake uranium mine are reportedly ready to walk out if Cameco doesn’t fix mould problems in their buildings.

The problem is apparently confined to the temporary structures contractors use while working at the site.

Cameco spokesman Rob Gereghty confirms the workers asked to be flown home yesterday — and some of them expressed concerns about their health.

Gereghty says contractors who want to leave will be allowed to — while others will get different rooms if they want.

He says equipment is being brought in to address the situation and it should arrive sometime today.
