People living in the province’s north west won’t have to travel as far now for criminal matters.
Saskatchewan’s Court of Queen’s Bench is expanding its services to Meadow Lake for one week at a time, roughly every six weeks.
Chief Justice R.D. Laing says court is a public service, particularly when it comes to matrimonial and criminal law, and therefore it’s important it be accessible.
He says having QB in Meadow Lake means people living in the north no longer have to drive hundreds of miles to Battleford for their case to be heard.
Justices will rotate at Meadow Lake Queen’s Bench, so Laing says around half a dozen could work there over the year.
