Drowning Death At Sandy Bay

RCMP are advising caution around water after the death of a young child at Sandy Bay.

Police say the child was reported missing around 3:15 Thursday afternoon.

Several children were playing in the water when one of them slipped under the surface.

An extensive search was conducted on the Churchill River.

The child’s body was later found in the bottom of the river about fifty feet from shore.

Sandy Bay RCMP are thanking the community for their help with the search and for their support.
