Stanley Mission RCMP are reminding snowmobilers to use caution after an 18-year-old man had to be rescued on the weekend.

Police say around 1:30 Saturday morning, they received a call about an impaired man on a snowmobile near open water on the Churchill River.

When they arrived at the dock, they could hear him calling for help.

RCMP officers used a tow rope from their vehicle, and with the help of a woman from Stanley Mission, were able to pull the man out of the water.

He was taken to the local medical clinic, where he was treated and released.

The snowmobile sank to the bottom of the river.
