Economic Projects Discussed at Summit

About 200 people are gathered in La Ronge for the Northern Economic summit organized by the Ministry of First Nations and Metis Relations.

 

The state of northern regional economies is being discussed and potential projects are being identified.

 

Environment Minister Dustin Duncan spoke this morning on behalf of the Government of Saskatchewan.

 

He says the main goal is to bring people together to talk about business opportunities.

 

Allan Morin, the Vice-President of the Metis Nation-Saskatchewan also spoke this morning.

 

He says work needs to be done to bring the northern economy up to the same level as the prosperous south.

 

Sessions are being held this afternoon in which regional and northern initiatives will be reviewed and prioritized for action.
