A northern Saskatchewan elder is concerned an upcoming gathering for the north’s elders will be used to push the potential of nuclear waste storage in the region.
Max Morin of Beauval doesn’t like the fact the Nuclear Waste Management Organization has been invited to the Northern Saskatchewan Elders Gathering in Pinehouse in early June.
But village coordinator Vince Natomagan says the NWMO is not on the agenda, and has only been invited to be a part of the trade show.
Natomagan also say, contrary to Morin’s fears, the NWMO’s presence at the upcoming event is not a form of consultation.
