The Environics Institute was in Regina last night presenting the findings of their study on the city’s Urban Aboriginal population.

Ginger Gosnell–Myers is the public engagement director for Environics and says Regina’s Aboriginal community has a lot of pride and connection to their identity.

She says that many Aboriginal people come to Regina mainly for education purposes as well as jobs.

Gosnell-Myers goes on to say that while Regina’s Aboriginal people do experience discrimination, they also have allies in the community.

According to the study, 21 percent of Aboriginal people in Regina said the AFN represented them best followed by the NDP at 14 percent.

Only 3 percent said that the FSIN represented their interests.
