Evacuations Continue At Carry The Kettle Reserve

Around 125 people on the Carry the Kettle First Nation are being asked to evacuate their homes due to flooding on the reserve.
Rising water has washed out roads on the reserve and threatened access to 75 houses.
Jackie Grey is the emergency project coordinator on the First Nation.
She says some residents left on Friday for a hotel in Regina, while more were evacuated yesterday and some are leaving today.
Grey notes some residents have asked to stay with their homes, and the band is leaving the choice up to them.
She adds heavy rains today are making the situation worse and recent efforts to fix the roads have failed.
Grey says the Red Cross, TransCanada Pipeline and other groups have stepped in to help the band weather the storm.
However, she believes the families will be out of their homes for at least a week.
