Ex-Gang Members Speak Out

Ex gang members, and guys who hung out with gang members, gave a presentation at Sakewew High School yesterday.

They’re all members of Str8UP, a group based in Saskatoon.

They told a couple of hundred students that although the gang lifestyle, with the money and respect, might seem cool, it’s not.

Thirty-one-year-old Faith Eagle was a higher-up gang member in Regina.

Eagle says she joined a gang to get respect and love but didn’t really find either of those.

She felt bad about the harm she did to others and decided to get out and change her life.

Eagle says it hasn’t been easy. She’s a single mom, raising four young kids, but she feels better about her life.
