Fire Burns Buildings in Wollaston Lake

A fire in Wollaston Lake has consumed three buildings,

one of which was used for meetings and as a courthouse.

The fire also destroyed the building that housed MBC’s broadcasting equipment, so MBC is currently not being broadcast to the community.

Hatchet Lake Chief Bart Tsannie says he didn’t know about the fire until he went to work this morning and saw empty spaces where there should have been buildings.

There are rumors circulating in the community that the fire was started by people.

Tsannie says he plans to raise the issue at a community meeting, as this is the second fire in the community this summer.

The last one forced people from their homes and was believed also to be started by humans.
