Fishers Have One More Year with FFMC

Saskatchewan fishers have another year to sell their catch to the Fresh Water Fish Marketing Corporation.
Today the government announced it was delaying its departure from the FFMC’s monopoly until April 1st of 2012.
Minister responsible Ken Chevaldayoff says they did so at the request of the fishers.
Chevaldayoff says the extra year should give fishers time to pursue other options.
The fishermen’s co-op had talked about building a fish plant in Prince Albert; however, the minister maintains that the government will not be investing any money into it directly.
