Delegates at this week’s Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations’ winter legislative assembly learned that the FSIN has significantly reduced its debt over the past three-and-a-half years.
It was revealed at the FSIN’s fall assembly in 2007 that the federation had a massive debt of more than $1 million.
The FSIN’s finances had been placed under Indian and Northern Affairs’ Remedial Management Plan, but it was announced this that it is now considered low-risk.
The federation is anticipated to have a deficit of just under $221,000 at the end of the current fiscal year.
