Health Officials Concerned About Number of Obese

Health officials concerned about the high number of obese people in the province’s north have another report with alarming numbers.

A report released by the Canadian Institute for Health Information says the obesity rate is 36 per cent, which is the highest percentage in the country, and double what it was in 1980.

Northern Medical Health Officer Dr. James Irvine says the need for change has never been more apparent.

Irvine says an increase is childhood obesity and childhood diabetes is also reason for concern.
