A housing program for low-income residents in Prince Albert has been saved – at least for now.

“Homes for the Homeless” is a joint effort of Metis Local 269 and Jubilation residential centres.

The pilot program began last year.

It was expected to run out of money by March 31st but has now received short-term financing.

Coordinator Janice Henry says the money should allow them to keep operating for another 4 months.

She adds they will continue to look for permanent funding however as the initiative has proven to be extremely popular.

She adds the program is valuable to the entire community.
