They mayor of La Ronge says he’s hoping the power stays on.

Thomas Sierzycki says flood-waters have not disrupted the flow of electricity in his community so far and he’s hoping it stays that way.

Speaking on Sunday the mayor says water-levels in La Ronge have gone up slightly since Friday but they seem to be levelling off.

He says efforts continue to pump water out of basements though and that’s why they need the power.

“Crews have maintained the flows, the stations have kept up with everything.  Our biggest fear is we need the power to remain on.”

Sierzycki stresses the La Ronge lift station is OK and none of the basements have any sewage in them, it’s purely groundwater.

At last word leaders of all three communities in the region said they had been told the water level will rise over the next three weeks.

However it will happen at a gradual rate.
