A Metis newspaper editor and publisher says constitutional reform is needed within the Metis Nation, and leaders need to start working together.

John Lagimodiere says right now there is a lot of political gridlock between two sides.

He says people need to call upon their leaders to reach a consensus because the Metis Nation doesn’t have a lot of time or money.

A special assembly on constitutional reform had been scheduled for this weekend until a group of provincial Metis council members pushed for it to be called off, saying it wasn’t the will of the people, who had voted against constitutional reform changes that had been brought forward to last November’s MNLA.
