Mistawasis Man Pleads Guilty to Manslaughter

A man from the Mistawasis First Nation has pleaded guilty to a charge of manslaughter.

 

Cheyenne Pechawis was one of four people accused in the killing of 35 year-old Virgil Pelletier.

 

Pelletier died in April of last year after being hit with a blunt object in Prince Albert.

 

Pechawis was initially charged with second-degree murder but pleaded guilty on Monday to the lesser offense of manslaughter.

 

He will serve roughly six years behind bars.
