A Mistawasis teen has completed an arduous trek across a salt flat in Bolivia.

Seventeen-year-old Brandon Sand was one of five youth from around the world who ran nearly the equivalent of a marathon six days in a row at an elevation of 12,000 feet.

He just landed back in Canada and is on his way home to Saskatoon today.

Sand feels a huge sense of accomplishment because the first few days were very difficult with the high elevation and chilly weather.

He says he almost wanted to quit on the first day, but persevered with some help.

Sand has used running to help overcome tragedy and deal with stress.

Next month he is going to run a mini marathon and his first ever full marathon.
