There are ten new heavy equipment operators in the province’s north, thanks to a partnership between the Athabasca Labour Services, Northern Career Quest, Northlands College and the PAGC.
Rob Jenkins with ALS says there is a definite need for this kind of training in the north.
He says of the 12 students, 10 completed the course, and some have already found employment with Athabasca Road Services.
Jenkins says there will be another project in September, and he thinks most of the remaining students will be employed through that contract.
The graduates came from the communities of Uranium City, Fond du Lac, Black Lake and Hatchet Lake.
