More cigarettes from a Mohawk reserve in Quebec have been seized by the Saskatchewan Ministry of Finance.

Officials say a shipment of 59 cartons was stopped west of Saskatoon on Highway 16 before the tobacco reached its intended destination.

Investigators say it appears the cigarettes are part of an attempt by Rainbow Tobacco to market its products in western Canada.

In February, 100 cartons of cigarettes from the same company were seized in Saskatoon.

Similar seizures were also conducted in Alberta and British Columbia.

In one case, band officials from Hobbema were involved in the business transaction.
