A spokesman for Saskpower says a lot of work still needs to happen before a power line is built to a proposed diamond mine east of Prince Albert.
This week it was learned that Shore Gold is partnering up with the crown corporation in a bid to improve its power generation capacity at Fort a la Corne.
The company has been looking for diamonds for years and is hopeful of beginning production by 2016.
James Parker says the company is aiming to begin construction of the 230 kilovolt line in the fall of 2012 but there’s a lot to do first.
Parker adds the 21 kilometre line will run from an existing transmission line to a substation at the site.
