The Muskowekwan First Nation and the Encanto Potash Corporation have announced a date for their Treaty Land Entitlement designation vote.
Voting will take place on the Muskowekwan First Nation on October 1st and through mailed balloting.
In a press release, Encanto president James Walchuk says they have been receiving “a very positive response” from members during preliminary meetings both on- and off-reserve.
Muskowekwan Chief Reg Bellerose says a favourable vote will mean long term royalties and employment and training opportunities in the community.
Encanto also announced it will be setting up a rig to begin drilling for potash in two wells on a site located on the more than 15,000 acres of TLE lands prior to the designation vote.
Muskowekwan Resources Limited signed a joint venture agreement with Encanto for the development and operation of a potash mine last November.
