A report released by the National Aboriginal Health Organization says when addressing respiratory health, the disease can’t be looked at in isolation.
The study provides information about current services and initiatives used to tackle respiratory health in First Nations, Metis and Inuit communities.
Catherine Graham, Director of the Metis Centre at NAHO says what was discovered is social determinants need to be considered when looking at how to best address the issue of respiratory health in Aboriginal populations.
The study not only looks at current services, but provides guidance for health practitioners, policy-makers and researchers who are developing future programs.
