Construction has begun on a new family treatment centre in Prince Albert.
Health Minister Don McMorris attended a sod-turning ceremony yesterday to mark the occasion.
The centre will give patients six to eight weeks to fight their addictions while also providing a space for their children to stay.
McMorris says the centre will provide a safe refuge for young mums who may feel they have nowhere else to turn.
In addition to that, the new centre will also feature a ten-bed unit for youth suffering from mental health disorders.
The facility, once constructed, will go up beside Victoria Hospital.
